When he was diagnosed with HIV, in 1988, he had to stop training as a nurse.</h1><br />"I lived my entire 20s in fear," he says.<br /><br />Now, Mr Thorn, based in the UK, hardly thinks about the virus - apart from taking a pill a day and visiting his doctor twice a year.<br /><br />People with HIV who receive treatment can enjoy entirely normal life spans - and outdated and incorrect views that the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) can be caught from sharing a plate have mostly disappeared<b> - but damaging misinformation still circulates.</b><br /><br /><h2 style="text-align: left;">'There Is A Cure'</h2>Doreen Moraa Moracha, from Kenya, was born with HIV but only found out about her diagnosis at the age of 13, in 2005.<br /><br />A television advertisement then led her to a man in Tanzania, claiming to be a healer, who said he could cure Ms Moraa Moracha and her mother of HIV.<br /><br />"We drank the herbal medication that he was selling and we came back believing that we were HIV negative," she said.<br /><br />She stopped taking her anti-retroviral drugs, which prevent the virus from replicating - until she caught shingles and pneumonia because of her weakened immune system.<br /><br />And her viral load - how much HIV is in the blood - was so high her doctor told her if she caught another infection, it would kill her.<br /><br />Untreated, HIV can lead to acquired immune deficiency syndrome (Aids) - a disease where the body cannot fight off even mild infections.<br /><br />It became clear to her the man was a "scammer". There is no vaccine or cure for HIV, but belief in a cure is common, International Aids Society president Dr Adeeba Kamarulzaman says.<br /><br />Recent cases of people recovering from the virus have raised hopes.<br /><br />This month, <a href="https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-59297311">a woman in Argentina</a> became the second documented person to become HIV-free apparently through her own immune system. My father passed away when I was doing Grade 5, and later my mother migrated to South Africa where she works until now.<br /><br />I had an unconventional upbringing; being raised by my brother-in-law (mukwasha) and then my other elder brother since my mother was now based in South Africa. This not-so-rosy background is what has made me who I am today. Thanks to that!<br /><br />“Due to this tough upbringing, I was always thinking hard of ways to better myself and my circumstances. I have been a jack of many trades in my entrepreneurship journey so far. From cross border trading, sale and purchase of motor vehicles from within and outside Zimbabwe, and this later part is what led to the formation of Nakiso Borehole Drilling Company,” he said.<br /><br />“I started Nakiso after having seen and experienced the effects of not having a functional water source. With my experience in plant engineering, the water-based solution business became even more of an interest to me.”<br /><br /><h1 style="text-align: left;">It Perhaps Also Explains The Philanthropic Bug ... </h1>“In establishing the business I feel that I am offering a valuable service to our customers and the community at large. In addition to that, I personally value myself for bringing that positive change in people’s lives. Giving back to the community through corporate social responsibility (CSR), and the feeling of accomplishment is an important business motivator.”<br /><br />The company also prides itself in getting involved in social impact projects.<br /><br />Nakiso Drilling has been roped into the current national project, which is targeting the construction of 200,000 low-cost houses and flats by 2023, whereby it is running a borehole drilling project in Dzivarasekwa.<br /><br />“Though we were not engaged purely on a 100 percent CSR initiative, but the rates extended under such projects are concessionary in nature, taking into account the importance of the program and what it is earmarked to achieve at national level,” said the chief executive.<br /><br />And as with all successful enterprises, nothing is ever achieved single-handedly.<br /><br />Lincoln attributes a key part of his success to the team that he has assembled:<br /><br />“I have an amazing team. They are the ones who make it happen for Nakiso business, and make Lincoln look good even as a personal brand. I have been blessed to have a team that is diverse and has a collective sense of responsibility.<br /><br />“Everyone wants to see the Nakiso brand grow and do well. The team has grown from an initial stage as budding workers to strong professionals who can take on any challenge in the business world.”<br /><br />The rising entrepreneur sees Nakiso converting to a holding company over the next decade, and that, of course entails diversification going forward.<br /><br />At a personal level, Lincoln says growth is key.<br /><br />“As for myself, being an entrepreneur makes one grow and I am currently going through the critical growth process. The transition has been painful on some occasions, but overall interesting and educative,” he said.<br /><br />“Today, I am not even the Lincoln of a year ago. If I am still the Lincoln of today 10 years from now, then I will have failed. In 10 years time, I look forward to a more confident and supercharged, ready to engage in further business and tackling the corporate echelons of power.”</div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7325811246048177524.post-6022529157189374442021-11-16T02:54:00.004-08:002021-11-16T02:54:42.634-08:00Black Friday: What's Black Friday And Do We Have It In Zimbabwe?<h1 style="text-align: left;">Just so you know today, Friday 26 November 2021, is Black Friday. </h1><br /><a href="https://www.nakisoboreholes.co.zw/" target="_blank">Nakiso Borehole Drilling</a> is running an extensive <b>Black Friday Week</b> on the last week of the month of November 2021. <a href="https://www.nakisoboreholes.co.zw/" target="_blank">Nakiso Borehole Drilling</a> has been running a Black Friday Month instead of restricting the promotion to the actual one day<b> - Friday 26 November 2021.</b><br /><br />This arrangement will involve the <b>Black Friday Week</b> running from <b>Monday 22 November 2021 to Friday 26 November 2021 </b>the month of November rather than concentrating all the<b> Black Friday Deals </b>into just one day, said Mavis Magwisa, the Sales Associate for <a href="https://www.nakisoboreholes.co.zw/">Nakiso Borehole Drilling.</a><br /><br />“We saw from our 2019 and 2020 <b>Black Friday Promotion </b>that there was a high concentration of people who needed water solutions from us coming to take advantage of the promotion. This posed a challenge to us as we experience a lot of traffic on the 2019 Black Friday,” said Iyvonne Mutindindi, the <a href="https://www.nakisoboreholes.co.zw/">Nakiso Borehole Drilling</a> Operations Associate.<br /><br /><i>"Therefore, we as <a href="https://www.nakisoboreholes.co.zw/">Nakiso Borehole Drilling</a> have taken the decision to reimagine the way we do Black Friday in 2021."</i><div><i><br /></i><div><i>"In an effort to create a more consumer-friendly Black Friday experience while adhering to all Covid-19 and social distancing protocols, <a href="https://www.nakisoboreholes.co.zw/">Nakiso Borehole Drilling</a> has taken the decision to extend the duration of our Black Friday promotion to one month."</i></div><div><div><br /></div><div><h1 style="text-align: left;">A Brief History of Black Friday:</h1>Americans and other countries celebrate a holiday called Thanksgiving which always falls on the fourth Thursday of November each year rather than on a given specific calendar day. </div><div><br /></div><div>This is an important holiday during which people travel to meet relatives usually as an extended family.<br /><br />As already said the holiday falls on a Thursday it would make little sense for people to return to work the following day-Friday. While not officially recognised the Friday after Thanksgiving became a de-facto holiday characterised by a large number of people doing their shopping.<br /><br />Shops began to take advantage of this by offering inducements to entice people to buy and spend. Eventually, it evolved into a day when you could do early Christmas shopping.<br /><br />No, the term Black Friday did not begin as a day when white Americans offered each other deals on black-negro slaves! </div><div><br /></div><div>That much we know. However, the origins of the name Black Friday are not clear. Some say it was the police of certain American states that started calling it a Black Friday as it was a day when there was a lot of traffic resulting in lots of crime, accidents and deaths.<br /><br />As Black Friday became popular shops came up with their own spin on how the term Black Friday came to be. According to them, it’s a day that allowed shops to make a profit. Making a loss is called being in red, remember how all marks below 50% were reported using a red pen in your High School report book? </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><div><br /></div><div>Turning a profit is called being in black.</div><div><br /><h1 style="text-align: left;">Black Friday comes to Africa and Zimbabwe:</h1>While discounts were popular in Zimbabwe towards Christmas, with the recent economic meltdowns it has actually become customary for our predatory retailers to hike prices as we get towards Christmas. </div><div><br /></div><div>However, the meltdown has also seen a lot of Zimbabweans leave the country and go to other countries where they have had occasion to experience other cultures one of which is Black Friday.<br /><br />The tech-savvy Zimbabwean community has also taken advantage of a number of years now. Each year the number of people who take advantage of these sales online continues to grow using cards such as the FBC MasterCard and Steward Visa to shop on Aliexpress, Amazon, Alibaba and Gearbest.<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjvKS0EusglE2pUPsUCkuFUcOOtS1CvqVc_4XDB15DdaiAM-p9kf0pOqhtqyOvkjV0u3AVdmSgUcFMT24mWLFAQyMn_Kb0SwzBVcEBszjIz1yPkXMKC46Wy27PNkN9HQkbz7V4qQaOMcSwTZIiUKJ8uw1MH19Do2LttQC9NG5NL_yTQHfuGXp494PhI5A=s1500" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><img alt="Black Friday" border="0" data-original-height="1000" data-original-width="1500" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjvKS0EusglE2pUPsUCkuFUcOOtS1CvqVc_4XDB15DdaiAM-p9kf0pOqhtqyOvkjV0u3AVdmSgUcFMT24mWLFAQyMn_Kb0SwzBVcEBszjIz1yPkXMKC46Wy27PNkN9HQkbz7V4qQaOMcSwTZIiUKJ8uw1MH19Do2LttQC9NG5NL_yTQHfuGXp494PhI5A=s16000" title="Black Friday" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Black Friday</td></tr></tbody></table>South African shops have also been known to take part in the sale. I sleep it,” he introduced himself. <br /><br /><h2 style="text-align: left;">Success, passion and consistency</h2>Success, passion and consistency are identical triplets, according to George. “When you are in business, you have to be in live with it and it will love you back and it will give you the fruits. I do it because I love it. People call me now by what I do and not my name. Consistency is key in what you do.” <br /><br />George has evolved into a marketing guru. “A business has to be well branded, we always wear our uniforms. People take it for granted. Branding is what I mastered at a young age. We have an amazing team with people at heart, the financial reward will come. We want to leave our customers with a wow and they become our brand ambassador.” <br /><br />George “Billionaire” continues to be showered with various business accolades. The latest one was the Top Outstanding Young Person in Zimbabwe accolade by JCI Zimbabwe. Business growth consultant. Speaker. Mentor. And brand influencer, are traits he boldly identifies with. Still, many are asking who is George “Billionaire”? And why does he associate with an expensive tagline? <br /><br />Well, his account is of a man who once failed in school but not in life. <br /><br /> “I grew up in Glen Norah, I failed my ordinary levels, and never went to university. I believed in myself and was super confident. The worst enemy of progress is comfort. When you become an entrepreneur seize opportunities presented every day,” George “Billionaire” confided in an interview with Esteem Communications. <br /><br />“I went through various sectors learning. It’s better to fail because you learn, better to try than not at all.” <br /><br />The founder and CEO of Proverbs Investments was born in 1983 in Glen Norah, Harare. For school, he attended some affluent institutions. But his love for soccer surpassed his schoolwork, resulting in him failing his Ordinary Level, however, on the second sitting, he made amends. <br /><br /><h2 style="text-align: left;">A billionaire mindset</h2>After school, he was exposed to various industries. “When you are exposed, you become a better person. Don’t go to the same places. If you are going to be successful, be exposed, determined and be confident,” said George. <br /><br />“Family will tell you it will not work, don’t expect people around you to support, you have to your greatest motivator. There is power in verbalising.” <br /><br />ProAir, a part of Proverbs Investments was birthed in 2012 and is brewing whirlwinds in the business sector. His rich list of mentors comprises a business tycoon, Dr Philip Chiyangwa. The politician-cum-property mogul charismatically refers to George as “my young boy”. <br /><br /> “I mentored George, he came from my own hands and now he is a serious businessman. And I see him doing extremely well. I see him doing much more. One year from now you will be a different person altogether,” said Chiyangwa. <br /><br />To realise his billionaire goals, George is learning from the best. “I remember Dr Philip Chiyangwa giving me my first award. At that time you did not help me, you said you wanted to see if I was serious. You have to have a mentor, someone who helps you. People see my success today and Chiyangwa is part of that success,” George said during an interview with Chiyangwa.Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7325811246048177524.post-47661514232978567262021-04-13T04:13:00.005-07:002021-04-13T04:14:54.602-07:00Jerry More Nyazungu: The Diaries of a Chartered Vendor!<h1 style="text-align: left;">Jerry More Nyazungu’s contagious smile corresponds with his humble personality, vastly matching his modest upbringing in Watsomba, Mutare. </h1><div><div>Beyond the hospitable smile lies an appetite to transform businesses by imparting his rich entrepreneurial expertise. <br /><br />“Strange as it may sound but I smile at obstacles. Overall, it is estimated that women account for about 30% to 40% of the workforce in the industry, with their participation at managerial levels more or less reflecting a similar trend.</div><div><br />In the past, the industry was less attractive and intimidating to the fairer sex because of its technical nature as well as the hostile and unsafe conditions at the mine-site level. Change-makers have, however, been tackling the bull by the horns and defying assumptions that used to scare off even the most brave and competent of women.</div><div><br />Today, the industry has had shining examples of women who have shattered the glass ceiling thus becoming an inspiration to the girl child. In this four part series of write-ups, today I would like to focus on arguably the Woman of the Moment in the extractive sector who is none other than my good friend, the current president of the Chamber of Mines of Zimbabwe (CoMZ), Ms Elizabeth Nerwande, aka “Ms Liz.”</div><div><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1lS19BpVnVhITpkAEpwLReXyOZVTCBOZrKC8T1DyD5FE6obcwfh6Tn9OxeQ86QTslt5a2KjMDnNAl5PkkR_L8MT_JxH84eOEkrMcjaILHQF2p7sJmxpaFC4ue73lK5uxE66964aCEHg1i/s1500/Liz+Nerwande.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img alt="Zimbabwean Women Making An Impact!" border="0" data-original-height="1000" data-original-width="1500" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1lS19BpVnVhITpkAEpwLReXyOZVTCBOZrKC8T1DyD5FE6obcwfh6Tn9OxeQ86QTslt5a2KjMDnNAl5PkkR_L8MT_JxH84eOEkrMcjaILHQF2p7sJmxpaFC4ue73lK5uxE66964aCEHg1i/s16000/Liz+Nerwande.png" title="Zimbabwean Women Making An Impact!" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Zimbabwean Women Making An Impact!<br /><br /></td></tr></tbody></table>This is no mean feat considering the significance of the mining industry to Zimbabwe’s economic fortunes. The sector contributes about 16% to gross domestic product (GDP) and 60% of the country’s foreign currency receipts. In 2020, the industry set a target of generating US$12 billion revenues by 2023 from as little as US$2,7 billion in 2017 as articulated by the Minister of Mines Honourable Chitando.</div><div><br /></div><div><br />Projections are that the sector could surpass agriculture which currently contributes 17% to GDP.<br />Ever since its formation as a private sector voluntary organisation in 1939, the CoMZ has had only two female presidents, namely Ms Ella Muchemwa – a geologist who assumed the title when she was still an executive at RioZim between January 2016 and March 2017 – and Ms Liz.</div><div><br />Both ladies are phenomenal at their craft.</div><div><br />Ms Nerwande, for instance, demonstrated her dynamism by ascending to the top echelons of both the CoMZ and Mimosa Mining Company – where she is the Head of Corporate Affairs – despite the fact that she didn’t have the technical background when she switched to mining a few years ago, although she had learnt quite a lot about the extractive sector while consulting for some of the country’s leading mining houses.</div><div><br />She has since transformed herself into an expert of note in mining matters. “The Iron Lady of mining”, has also passionately worked towards the economic prosperity of all Zimbabweans, regardless of their gender, while also uplifting women who are still burdened by the disproportionate costs of mining, through various corporate social responsibility initiatives.</div><div><br />After succeeding Mr Batsirai Manhando at helm of CoMZ, Ms Nerwande has not disappointed.</div><div><br />She has ensured that the Chamber remains relevant and on course to achieve its vision of being the engine for growth and a high profile lobby group whose energy is focused in the key areas that make a difference to the economy and the industry. The chamber has therefore been proactive in pushing for improved operating conditions and has been collaborating with other stakeholders in driving the growth of the industry and the economy.</div><div><br />For these and other reasons, she will be seeing out her second and final term at the helm of the membership-driven lobby and advocacy group in May this year having achieved many accomplishments. Among her many achievements being the transformation of the Chamber into an institution that offers real, tangible benefits to its members.</div><div><br />Her signature achievement is perhaps the establishment of a resource centre at the CoMZ that seeks to ensure that miners have access to information at the click of a button.</div><div><br />Before her election in July 2019, Ms Nerwande was the first vice president of the Chamber. She had long broken into the corporate world as the executive director of the Consumer Council of Zimbabwe from 1999 to 2003, where she laid the foundation for the Consumer Protection Act, which was assented into law in December 2019.</div><div><br />In 2004, she was appointed as chief executive officer for the country’s export promotion agency, ZimTrade, a position she held until 2006. At one point, she was the Commissioner General for an Expo in Aichi Japan.</div><div><br />She is also the founder of Tayana, a corporate branding company that focuses on personal and corporate image branding and management, driven by the philosophy that says healthy individuals make for happier employees.<br />Ms Nerwande’s success is partly a result of lessons learnt in her formative years from her guardian angels: her grandmother, who was a hardworking master farmer in her own right and her aunt who took her time to mother her.</div><div><br />She is on record saying women have really never clamoured for special treatment in the workplace, but rather for recognition based on their strengths and expertise.</div><div><br />To continuously scale up the ladder, she places a lot of emphasis on collaborations and integration as opposed to competition, saying through engagements, there is need to acknowledge the various benefits that women can bring to the workplace while giving them space to excel.</div><div><br />To win in an increasingly competitive workplace and business environment, she is adamant that it is imperative to go beyond gender and take time in building the required competences.</div><div><br />“As women, we must organise ourselves better and deliver. We must realise that ours is a shared journey for a better future and as such unity of purpose in this journey is a must,” Ms Nerwande has been quoted as saying.</div><div><br />The environment cause was not lost on Liz as she thrust herself to the deep end of the regreening of our country. When Mimosa made the decision to participate in the establishment of tree seedling nurseries, it was Liz who became the implementer in-chief helping set up the Mtshingwe Primary School tree seedling nursery making it the first steel structure project that we had. More than that, Liz would run with the project of establishing orchards at the homesteads of kraal heads within rural Zvishavane.</div><div><br />With such inspiring woman icons like Ms Liz, we should see more women breaking barriers and raising the bar to another level in the mining sector where the likes of Ms Henrietta Rushwaya of the Zimbabwe Miners Federation, Mrs Busi Chindove (Head of Corporate affairs at Zimplats) and Ms Clara Sadomba (General Manager – Marketing and Administration at Zimasco), all of whom have shown us that gender bias has no place in today's world even in male enclaves such as mining.</div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7325811246048177524.post-16187108152757346542021-03-31T03:39:00.005-07:002021-03-31T03:40:36.505-07:00I Use My Talent To Educate Society says Jedza (Claude Nyakakuru)<h1 style="text-align: left;">Award-Winning comedian Takunda “Jedza” Claude Nyakakuru says he uses talent to give people life lessons and offer solutions to problems experienced in society.</h1><br />The 22-year-old comedian, who has been working with some popular comedians such as Cathy “Dhafu” Chapungu and Terrence “Jatiwero” Chirinda at Naiza Boom told NewsDay Life & Style that his desire is to export Zimbabwean comedy.<br /><br />“Acting has always been my passion, I live to entertain and educate people through comedy. From humble beginnings, Mataranyika went to school in Nyazura in Manicaland. </h1><div><br /></div><div>In terms of employment, he worked for Old Mutual for fifteen years. Working for Old Mutual probably moulded him into the funeral assurance guru that he is now.<div><br /><br />Nyaradzo as a business has grown remarkably over the 18 years that it has been in existence. From a funeral services company at its inception, Nyaradzo is now a combined group encompassing Nyaradzo Funeral Assurance, Calundike Exports, Eureka Insurance Brokers as well as Sahwira Events. The synergies between these individual companies have proved to be Nyaradzo’s competitive edge.</div><div><br /></div><div>Calundike manufactures coffins that are used by the funeral assurance business and Eureka Insurance specialises in insurance. Talk is that the group wants to venture into tourism with boats rumoured to already be in place in Kariba. The company is also venturing into foreign markets with offices already open in South Africa. The United Kingdom is in the pipeline.</div><div><br />Although he is often listed among the richest Zimbabweans, Mataranyika has managed to maintain his humbleness. More recently, he took it upon himself to drive the hearse which carried the body of the late music icon Oliver Mtukudzi. Nyaradzo continues to do well as a market leader in the funeral assurance sector. That the company survived through the 2008 hyperinflationary period during which many companies fell by the wayside is commendable.<br /><br />Mr Mataranyika is a graduate of the Institute of Marketing Management of South Africa. He also holds a Master of Science Degree in Strategic Management from the Chinhoyi University of Technology. </div><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjS5fd-i0t09SjtvA7DiK3aH9uCR4hca8ye-8iCzrf9qGxB8LRiFEw493-WEIZfcn5AQplEXYoClMM4cwBU-VzxKcSHBUapsk5_1jBONi7j7YB8YVsk56eRkmzO6Yhbb6Tlde7gfKwE4DRm/s1280/thumbnail_DSC_1835.jpg" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img alt="Phillip Mataranyika, Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nyaradzo Group" border="0" data-original-height="854" data-original-width="1280" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjS5fd-i0t09SjtvA7DiK3aH9uCR4hca8ye-8iCzrf9qGxB8LRiFEw493-WEIZfcn5AQplEXYoClMM4cwBU-VzxKcSHBUapsk5_1jBONi7j7YB8YVsk56eRkmzO6Yhbb6Tlde7gfKwE4DRm/s16000/thumbnail_DSC_1835.jpg" title="Phillip Mataranyika, Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nyaradzo Group" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Philip Mataranyika, Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nyaradzo Group</td></tr></tbody></table><div>He has won many awards which include the Business Luminary Award (2013), Leadership Award of the Year (2013), Chief Executive Officer of the Year (2010) and the National Businessman of the Year (2010) among others.<br /> </div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7325811246048177524.post-10985422190101882032021-03-26T04:37:00.002-07:002021-03-27T02:01:28.278-07:00Knowledge Musona Places Country First Over Club!<h1 style="text-align: left;">Zimbabwe Warriors captain Knowledge Musona’s exploits for the Warriors have reignited the debate of country versus country, burdening the nation for a while. </h1><br />Former captain Peter Ndlovu endured a similar storm, but he showed commitment when he travelled for some games, even at his own expense. In other instances, Peter financed the team’s expenditures. For that, Peter is regarded as one of the best players and captain to grace the Warriors jersey. <br /><br />After Zimbabwe qualified for the Afcon 2022 finals set for Cameroon, the Musona failed to conceal his excitement. In a congratulatory tweet, he wrote, “We did it for you guys who were not present and of course for the nation at large. Good job Warriors! Good job Warriors! AFCON 2022 here we COME! To all our supports thank you for your support always!!” <br /><br />The depleted Warriors squad however delivered the results, despite the recurrent problems haunting the squad during every tournament.<br /><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhkLBYCoD3PmSl2y2JzTecyl54klz7V2FVNH75K93we31TW70WKTAeWDDvPTRkmzGaceNh-pS1XRH0wUJwXfQ3XAHErTrGqxS20SsDWhW5ZrJ6QxJrUuyOE8dqo-EWed3ZHXO-ZPiBCcsrb/s1024/musona.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img alt="Knowledge Musona Places Country First Over Club!" border="0" data-original-height="683" data-original-width="1024" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhkLBYCoD3PmSl2y2JzTecyl54klz7V2FVNH75K93we31TW70WKTAeWDDvPTRkmzGaceNh-pS1XRH0wUJwXfQ3XAHErTrGqxS20SsDWhW5ZrJ6QxJrUuyOE8dqo-EWed3ZHXO-ZPiBCcsrb/s16000/musona.jpg" title="Knowledge Musona Places Country First Over Club!" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Knowledge Musona Places Country First Over Club!<br /><br /></td></tr></tbody></table>For the Botswana encounter, Zimbabwe was missing their most trusted lieutenants, including Khama Billiat, Marvellous Nakamba, and Tino Kadewere among other notable absentees. With the COVID-19 pandemic wreaking havoc, players failed to pitch due to strict travel conditions imposed by their host nations. <br /><br />Musona flew into the country from his Belgium base, a bold move that bolstered the squad’s confidence, desperate for such. “We might not have some of the key players but we have the quality to come out with the positive result we need to win the game.” <br /><br />“We are all good players like we are all not here by mistake but they (the new players) also have quality so I believe in each and everyone who has been chosen to play…,” Musona told a press conference in Harare. <br /><br />On the match day, the players on duty delivered the goods, despite earlier setbacks. Warriors’ greenhorn Perfect Chikwende nudged home a first half header to give a lifeline to the team. The away team resisted the nagging Zebras to hang on to the slender lead until the final kick. <br /><br />The result unleashed euphoric celebrations, further enhanced by Zambia versus Algeria draw, teams from the same group, a result which meant the Warriors had qualified. “Super proud of my squad, we conquered & played very well even though some of our players were sadly not present due to unforeseen circumstances,” Musona’s tweet continued. <br /><br />A subdued match by Zimbabwe’s previous standards, it was deprived of the spark initiated by the “KK combination”, partnering Musona and Khama up front, that was guaranteed to unleash wild dancing celebrations from their Vietnam loyal fans.<br />Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7325811246048177524.post-85071857880959745092021-03-25T05:46:00.018-07:002021-03-27T02:01:33.853-07:00Conversations with Longina Masiyenyama, a Female Borehole Sitting Expert!<h1 style="text-align: left;">Longina Masiyenyama is a borehole siting expert at <a href="https://www.nakisoboreholes.co.zw/" target="_blank">Nakiso Borehole Drilling</a>. It's not a matter of one day proving that I'm the best but a matter of proving that I'm capable of making music that can resonate with a lot of people.” <br /><br />In the social media post, he saluted his fans. “Last night was OURS. I release music when the time is right. I am household type of music,” he said. <br /><br />“I don’t play bubble gum music. I am not pressured to release new music. I do so when I have the right music to do so.” <br /><br />Touted as a local music genius, the singer is confident his music is a global brand and not confined to local patrons. “I am pushing music for the world and not the country only. Music is a global language,” said the artist who started singing at 21. <br /><br />Such is his talent, he is confident to release music at his own pace without any pressure. “I don’t work with pressure. I can release my music later, without any hype. I go for substance over hype. We don’t do it things for the likes, we do it for the love,” Nutty O said. <br /><br />Previous collaborations with other artists have earned him more traction. “I get along with Amara Brown. There is nothing wrong with that. I am an artist who works outside the box.” <br /><br />Nutty has learnt to focus on quality production as opposed to quantity. “There must be substance and content over quantity. I am trying to sing for everybody,” he said, adding that musicians “must spread love to each other because we are one family.”<br />Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7325811246048177524.post-24032632749183550322021-03-15T05:07:00.003-07:002021-03-15T05:08:54.785-07:00Everything You Need To Know About Rozalla Miller!<h1 style="text-align: left;">Rozalla Miller (born 18 March 1964), better known as simply Rozalla, is a Zambian-born Zimbabwean electronic music performer who was born in what was then Northern Rhodesia, (now Zambia), to a Zimbabwean father. </h1><div>She later moved with her parents at the age of 18 to her father's country of origin, Zimbabwe. She is best known for her three 1991/92 hit singles "Faith (In the Power of Love)", "Are You Ready To Fly" and particularly "Everybody's Free (To Feel Good)", which has been remixed and re-issued several times. In December 2016, Billboard magazine ranked her as the 98th most successful dance artist of all-time.<br /><br /><h2 style="text-align: left;">Musical career:</h2>Rozalla began performing at a young age in her native Zambia singing in clubs and at events; then at age 13, she was singing on a children's TV show. The album spawned two more sizeable hits in "Faith (In the Power of Love)" and "Are You Ready to Fly", reaching number 11 and 14 respectively in the UK Singles Chart, plus a lesser charting single in the ballad "Love Breakdown".<br /><br />In 1992 Rozalla toured with Michael Jackson, opening all of his shows on the European leg of his Dangerous tour, including the UK. Only classical conductor Sir Georg Solti has more, with 31.<br /><br />Beyoncé was also part of another historic moment - when Megan Thee Stallion became the first female artist to win the best rap song award.<br /><br />The Houston musician picked up the prize for her breakout hit Savage (Remix), on which Beyoncé delivers a guest verse.<br /><br />Black Parade was not the only award-winner song to reflect the Black Lives Matter movement: R&B singer H.E.R. won song of the year for I Can't Breathe, which quotes the last words of George Floyd.<br /><br />The 46-year-old died while being arrested by police in Minneapolis last year. "But she always knew that I would be at the Grammys, and I would be like, 'Oh mom, that's so far away but it came so quick.<br /><br />"And I'm just so appreciative that I'm here."<br /><br />Performance highlights included Taylor Swift, who sang a medley of songs from her lockdown albums Folklore and Evermore, from an enchanted forest set.<br /><br />Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion got together for the first-ever TV performance of their X-rated single WAP, while Bruno Mars and Anderson. Paak unveiled their new "supergroup" Silk Sonic, channelling the 70s soul sounds of Earth, Wind And Fire.<br /><br />The show also highlighted the plight of music venues by having staff from venues, including New York's Apollo Theater and LA's Troubador, present some of the awards.<b> www.bbc.com</b></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7325811246048177524.post-54349847912331396022021-03-15T01:48:00.009-07:002021-04-26T23:36:59.098-07:00Nutty O and Tamy Moyo, Take Lead In Star FM Listeners’ Choice Awards<h1 style="text-align: left;">Nutty O and Tamy Moyo won three awards each at the Star FM Zimbabwe Listeners’ Choice Awards 2021, with Nutty O taking the Song of the Year with Kokai which features Poptain.</h1><br />The third edition of the Star FM awards took place last Saturday running under the theme #RespectTheHustle.
