Nakiso Borehole Drilling: A Year of Limitless Possibilities and Growth Amidst a Pandemic
Written By: Oudney Patsika, Head of Marketing at Nakiso Borehole Drilling
The year 2020 was a harsh period for everyone globally. No country, business, or institution was spared from the devastating wrath of the coronavirus pandemic. Yet, for Nakiso Borehole Drilling, it was a defining year of defiance, strategy, and unprecedented growth.
Humble Beginnings
In an industry traditionally dominated by a few established monopolies, Nakiso emerged as a disruptor. The company’s journey began in November 2019 with a lean, dedicated team.
The Founding Team
CEO Lincoln Masiyenyama led the charge alongside Brilliant Chipangura (Operations), Oudney Patsika (Head of Marketing), and Tendayi Chikovi (Corporate Administration). This core group of four laid the foundation for what would become a market leader.

The Expansion Strategy
With demand for reliable water solutions increasing, Nakiso executed a bold expansion strategy. "By then, we had only one truck and a one-week backlog of jobs," recalls the CEO. "In less than a year, we had acquired multiple modern service trucks."
Digital Dominance
An innovative marketing strategy via diverse social media platforms amplified the company’s brand visibility. Large organizations began engaging Nakiso for major projects based solely on their robust online presence.
Global Reach
The entity’s visibility stunned industrial peers, attracting inquiries from South Africa and Europe. Nakiso began offering quality services to diaspora clients without ever meeting them in person.

Corporate Social Responsibility
Success for Nakiso is not just about profit; it's about people. In 2020, the company fulfilled its CSR mandate by drilling and installing boreholes at various venues to support communities in need.
Water for the Community
A community borehole was installed at Glory Ministries in Chitungwiza, with two more in Epworth and Highfields in partnership with NGOs and Churches. These initiatives have significantly reduced the burden on women who previously spent hours fetching water.
Excellence Rewarded
Nakiso Borehole Drilling concluded the year 2020 on a high note. The dedication to corporate governance and rapid growth was recognized by industry leaders.
Young Corporate Director of the Year
CEO Lincoln Masiyenyama clinched the "Best Start-up Company" award, conferred by the distinguished Institute of Corporate Directors Zimbabwe (ICDZ). This award recognizes independent directors who have made valuable contributions to the boards on which they serve.
