The 2021 edition of the Zim Community Awards (ZCN) will be hosted virtually due to the coronavirus pandemic.


The ZCN awards recognise outstanding leaders in service delivery, business, human rights, and social entrepreneurial categories both locally and abroad.

Tariro Masunda, the event organiser said, “Our community newspaper will also honour organisations and people in the service delivery sector, those who are empowering our communities in the business and human rights sector, and the philanthropists who are doing great work during the Covid-19 pandemic.”

Nominees for the diversified categories include telecommunications mogul Strive Masiyiwa, businessman Philip Chiyangwa, banker Nigel Chanakira, and Nakiso Borehole Drilling CEO, Lincoln Masiyenyama. The big pool of nominees has given the organiser reason to crow about the forthcoming event.

“We also have a big surprise for the day as we streamline our operations as a media house and we would like to thank all our partners for their support,” Masunda said, adding that they will incorporate everyone.

For the gospel section Mechanic Manyeruke, Charles, and Olivia Charamba, and Michael Mahendere will be in contention for a gong. On the international gospel scene, the awards will recognise Nigerian gospel singer Sinach. Takesure Zamar, Blessing Shumba, and Methias Mhere are some of the rising stars that have been nominated.

French-based soccer player Tino Kadewere, retired footballer Edward Sadomba, and veteran businesswoman, Abigail Magwenzi will battle out in the community awards. Kadewere who is on a roller-coaster at Lyon, has assisted many people through his foundation.

Prominent educationists, outstanding health workers, and business mentors of note will also be honoured. Youth empowerment leader, sporting personality, and outstanding girl child rights defender. 

The event anchored by ZCN, an online community newspaper will be aired via social media platforms, namely Facebook and YouTube.
