Loaded with an electrifying stage presence, energetic and spirited flairs, Tamy Moyo represents the future of Zimbabwean music.

The upcoming diva’s mellow voice can concur on the global showbiz stage and melt any critics into submission. Having shared the stage with Joe Thomas at the tender age of 13, she has since upped that experience, taking it further.

The adaptable songstress has a rich entertainment history, dating back to her primary school days. At 7, she was already a senior school choir member, standing tall amongst her seniors. When she turned 13, she was privileged to share the stage with the late Oliver Mtukudzi, later becoming the youngest child ambassador for the country.

Then in 2008, Tamy teamed with three other colleagues to form the Uganda African Choir in New York. The ensemble featured on CNN. The exposure on an international stage has catapulted her fortunes, making her adapt to the strict demands of the music industry. Speaking on her career, she said “We should take into consideration about time that is something that is of the essence to us if we are going to succeed. Standing in the crowd will not make you outstanding.”

True to her wishes, the expressive narrator has been trailblazing since. “I stay within my element and be myself, I don’t have a particular expression. Music is an expression. I want to be in an environment that has colour. I can’t give credit to myself, but you must run your race and tell your own story.”

And ever since, she has been a storyteller through her compositions. “The pain that you feel cannot be shared by the next person. I love to get out of my comfort zone. The movie was a whole challenge for me, the director was fantastic. I am married to the music”.

Thamsanqa ‘Tamy’ Moyo hails from a creative background. The Music Doctor, a local radio personality is her father. In 2017, she featured in the film Gonarezhou, earning her a National Arts Merit Awards (NAMA) nomination. The All Africa Music Award (AFRIMA) ceremony in Ghana, also nominated the performer for the best female artiste from Southern Africa.
