Gospel Diva, Olinda Marowa has turned 33 years. Her birthday coincides with International Women’s Day (IWD).

On her Facebook page, she celebrated her birthday with a gospel melody. “I will put you in front of my melody you are all that matters, you are all that matters. I will make room for two, you and I Jesus, you are all that matters,” she wrote.

“Owei (yes), owei (yes). What would I live for if I don’t have you in my life, what would I gain if you take the Holy Ghost.”

She exalted Jesus for the day. “What a spirit filled song from GUC and I dedicate this to myself as I celebrate my 33rd birthday. Thank you Lord Jesus for loving and making me complete, I’m nothing without you.”

A journalist by training, and a musician at birth, she fell in love with music at an early age. In 2004, she was a backing vocalist for Kudzi Nyakudya. ‘Nyasha’, her first album hit the airwaves in 2008, followed by ‘Ndinouya Baba’ which propelled her to fame. From thereon, she produced other hits in 2001 and 2014 respectively.

In 2020, Olinda married Mike Mapiya, three years after the death of his first husband Mike Ziwenga. “We are working on the wedding now, but the dates are not yet finalised,” she told NewsDay.

The couple is now based in the United Kingdom. “He is into music but not as a singer. He does sound engineering,” she said. “Musically, he is very supportive, bringing in ideas on how to push the music ministry and more of a cheerleader.”
