Hatiperi, a Zimbabwean clothing brand, has become a symbol of resilience and inspiration.

The brand's founder, Tinotenda Matayi, recently celebrated a major milestone with the grand opening of a new shop at Long Chen Plaza. This achievement marks the culmination of years of dedication and perseverance in the face of adversity.

A Journey Forged in Resilience

Matayi's story is one of overcoming significant challenges. In 2018, at the young age of 17, he found himself facing the harsh realities of independence after losing his mother and with both sisters living abroad. This difficult period became the catalyst for Hatipere. The word "Hatiperi" served more than just a brand name; it became a mantra, a daily source of strength and a powerful prayer that fueled Matayi's determination.

From College Dorm to Local Star: Building a Brand from Scratch

Despite financial constraints and the emotional toll of his loss, Matayi refused to give up. With unwavering determination, he saved $50 to order his first batch of apparel from China, emblazoned with a unique infinity logo designed by a local friend.

However, the initial phase was not without its setbacks. The arrival of his first order was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

From Setbacks to Success: A Community Embraces Hatipere

Once the order finally arrived, the response from the community was overwhelmingly positive. People resonated with the message behind "Hatiperi" and readily embraced Matayi's burgeoning business. Starting from selling T-shirts and hoodies downtown, Hatipere has grown significantly. The brand now employs 10-15 families depending on the month, and has been officially registered for four years.

Building a Brand, Building a Legacy

Matayi is adamant about the importance of faith and perseverance. "This journey has been full of tears, losses, stress, tears, joy, and sometimes wins," he reflects. "It took me close to six years to get the equation right at the start-up level." His unwavering belief and relentless hard work have paved the way for Hatipere's success.

A Beacon of Inspiration for Aspiring Entrepreneurs

The opening of the Long Chen Plaza shop signifies a new chapter for Hatipere. Matayi's story serves as a powerful inspiration to aspiring entrepreneurs, reminding them to "PUT GOD FIRST & NEVER GIVE UP.

In God HATIPERI!" His journey is a testament to the power of human spirit, unwavering faith, and the unwavering support of a community.
